About Me

Howdy! Thanks for visiting Shelf Indulgent Reader and stopping here to find out more about me.

My name's Joe, and like most book bloggers, I'm a life-long lover of literature, starting with an Enid Blyton and Letterland obsession as a child, through a comprehensive reading of MG and YA Fantasy, through to my incredibly eclectic range of reading as a 20-something.

I'm incredibly lucky to also have spent a lot of my working life around books. Aged 18 I took a job as a Bookseller at Waterstones, until I headed off to uni, and then in my second year, I took another job as a Bookseller at the Waterstones store in Leeds. I had a wonderful two years there, running events, meeting a ton of fantastic authors (including some of my personal heroes), before a chance encounter with a publicist took me on a journey into the world of publishing. I've now been working in book PR for over three years, starting out at Bloomsbury and now at HQ, HarperCollins.

So now I'm more exposed to books than ever, and it's wonderful that I'm able to dedicate so much of my life to reading.

That's where Shelf Indulgent Reader comes in, allowing me to keep track of my reading, share some of my thoughts and engage with so many of the fantastic authors and bloggers that make the book industry the best in the world to be a part of.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this, and I really hope you enjoy the blog!

Joe x
